Young Town Planners visit Year One

Look at our town!

Young Town Planners visit Year One.

As part of the year one’s topic of Houses and Homes Young Town Planners came in to help develop the children’s knowledge and understanding of buildings and towns.

Young Town Planners are a company who use lego as a tool for children to learn about how towns are designed and built. The half-day activity focuses on teaching the children the essential features of a town and their role within that town.

The company brought along lots of lego and the children worked in small groups supervised by an adult. The children were encouraged to build a house with conventional features such as windows and doors. Later they were shown how to construct a roof.  The children then placed their building onto the town and decorated the garden.  The children made a variety of buildings such as a vet, police station and a chocolate factory! We had lots of fun!
